Defense is as crucial as Attack for Boss Fights . Without it, you cannot mitigate the damage you receive from boss fights. The boss's attack minus your defense is the amount of damage per second you will receive. When your defense is above the boss's attack, you will take no damage at all.
The Defense is about half the Attack of all bosses 24 and onwards. Also when fighting a boss, for as long as your Defense is higher than its Attack, then it can no longer damage you.
Defense boosts[]
There are multiple ways to boost your Defense.
I.T.O.PO.D.[]
There are some I.T.O.P.O.D. perks that can be bought with PP to boost your defense.
- The Newbie Stat Perk grants a 100% multiplier to your defense and attack.
- Stat Boost for Rich perks I each level in the perk grants you 10% Defense & Attack with a maximum of 1000 upgrades.
- Stat Boost for Rich perks II each level in the perk grants you 1% Defense & Attack with a maximum of 1000 upgrades.
- Welcome to evil difficulty grants a 200% multiplier to your defense and attack. (evil difficulty only)
- Stat Boost for Rich perks III each level in the perk grants you 1% Defense & Attack with a maximum of 1000 upgrades. (evil difficulty only).
- Welcome to Sadistic difficulty grants a 1000% multiplier to your defense and attack. (SADISTIC difficulty only).
- Stat Boost for Rich perks IV each level in the perk grants you 1% Defense & Attack with a maximum of 1000 upgrades. (SADISTIC difficulty only).
NGU[]
Once you unlock NGU you get two possible upgrades with time, energy, and magic.
- NGU Power α multiplies your Attack/Defense stats by 5% per level.
- NGU Power β multiplies your Attack/Defense stats by 1% per level.

Augmentation[]
After unlocking Augmentation you can augment your fighting power with powerful weapons and enhancements.
There are a total of 7 Augmentations with another 7 upgrades for each.
Equipment[]
The current Equipment bonus to Adventure Toughness also acts as a Defense multiplier, at a rate of +1% per Toughness unit.
